Seeing God's World · Lesson 10

Every Square Inch

Colossians 1:15-20; Psalm 24:1; Colossians 3:17, 23 New Testament PrincipleWorship

Paul under house arrest in Rome, chained to a Roman soldier, dictating a letter by lamplight.

From prison, Paul wrote to the church in Colossae that Jesus made all things, holds all things together and is first in everything. The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it. There's no part of life that doesn't belong to Jesus, so everything we do can be worship.

Jesus made everything and owns everything. Every part of my life, not just Sunday, can be worship to Him.

Memory verse

“All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

Colossians 1:16-17 BSB

Christ Connection · Jesus’ plan

Jesus is "the image of the invisible God" through whom "all things were created" (Colossians 1:15-16). He holds the universe together right now (1:17; Hebrews 1:3). And through His blood shed on the cross, God is reconciling "all things" to Himself (Colossians 1:20). The One who made every square inch died to win every square inch back.

Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:3; Revelation 11:15

The Big Story · Redemption

Jesus made all things, sin twisted all things, and through the cross He is reconciling all things. One day the whole world will openly be His (Revelation 11:15).

Paul wrote that Jesus made all things, holds all things together and is first in everything. The whole world belongs to Him, so we can love and obey Jesus everywhere, not just at church.

Bible story 6 min

Paul was in Rome. He was chained to a soldier. But he could still have visitors and write letters.

A man named Epaphras came to see him. "Paul, the church in my town loves Jesus. But some people say Jesus is just one of many big powers."

Paul said, "No! Jesus is over all of them!" So Paul wrote a letter.

The rest of the story, discussion questions, songs, Live It and prayer are for members.
