Seeing God's World · Lesson 6
Why Am I Here?
Esther 4:1-17; Esther 5:1-3; Ephesians 2:8-10 Old Testament PrincipleCourage

When an evil plan threatened God's people, Mordecai told Queen Esther, "Who knows if perhaps you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther bravely went to the king, and God used her to save His people. God made each of us on purpose, for good works He prepared ahead of time, and He gives us courage to do them.
God placed me where I am on purpose. He has good works for me to do today, and He gives me courage to do them.

Christ Connection · Better than
Esther risked her life to stand before the king and plead for her people. Jesus went further: He gave His life for His people, rose again, and now "always lives to intercede" for us before the Father (Hebrews 7:25). Because of Him, we can come to the King without fear, and He gives our lives their purpose.
Hebrews 7:25; 1 Timothy 2:5; Romans 5:8
The Big Story · Redemption
God protected His people in Persia because He had promised to send the Rescuer through them. Esther's courage was part of God's bigger plan to bring Jesus.

Bible story 6 min
Long ago, a king named Xerxes ruled a huge kingdom. He chose a Jewish girl named Esther to be his queen. Her cousin Mordecai had raised her.
But a proud man named Haman hated God's people. He tricked the king into making a law to destroy them all!
Mordecai sent a message to Esther. "Go to the king. Ask him to save your people!" Esther was afraid. Anyone who went to the king without being called could die!
