Seeing God's World · Lesson 7
Made for Relationships
Matthew 22:34-40; Genesis 2:18-24; 1 John 4:19-21 New Testament PrincipleLove

When someone asked Jesus for the greatest commandment, He gave two that belong together – love God with everything, and love your neighbor as yourself. From the beginning God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone." We were made for relationship with God and with each other.
God loved us first. We were made to love Him with all we are and to love the people around us.

Christ Connection · The gospel
Sin broke our relationship with God and with each other. Jesus is the only one who ever loved God with all His heart and loved His neighbors perfectly, and He died to bring us back to God (2 Corinthians 5:18). Now He makes us part of God's family (Ephesians 2:19). "We love because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19).
1 John 4:9-11, 19; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19; Ephesians 2:19
The Big Story · Creation
In creation, God made people for relationship with Him and each other. Sin broke both, and Jesus came to restore them.
