The Armor of God · Lesson 1The Armor of God: The Belt of Truth1 Kings 22:1-40; Ephesians 6:10-14; John 14:6King Ahab wanted to go to war, and 400 prophets told him what he wanted to hear. Only Micaiah said, "I will speak whatever the LORD tells me," and he told the truth, even though it cost him. Ahab put on a disguise and his armor, but an arrow found the gap. The first piece of God's armor is the belt of truth. God's truth holds everything together and keeps us safe.Old TestamentHonesty
The Armor of God · Lesson 2The Armor of God: The Breastplate of RighteousnessZechariah 3:1-10; Ephesians 6:14; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Jeremiah 23:5-6In a vision, Zechariah saw Joshua the high priest standing before God in filthy clothes while the accuser pointed at his sin. God said, "Take off his filthy clothes," and dressed him in clean robes. Joshua did nothing; God did it all. The breastplate of righteousness is God's gift. Jesus takes our sin and gives us His righteousness, and that guards our hearts when we're accused.Old TestamentRighteousness
The Armor of God · Lesson 3The Armor of God: Shoes of Peace2 Kings 7:3-16; Ephesians 6:15; Isaiah 52:7; Romans 10:13-15When the city of Samaria was starving, four men with a sickness that kept them outside the city found the enemy camp empty and full of food. God had made the army run away. At first they kept it to themselves. Then they said, "This is a day of good news, and we are keeping it to ourselves!" and ran to tell the city. The shoes of peace mean we stand on the good news of Jesus and are ready to share it.Old TestamentSharing Jesus
The Armor of God · Lesson 4The Armor of God: Shield of FaithDaniel 3:1-30; Ephesians 6:16; Hebrews 11:33-34; Isaiah 43:2King Nebuchadnezzar set up a huge gold statue and told everyone to bow down or be thrown into a blazing furnace. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego would not bow. "Our God is able to save us," they said. "But even if He does not, we will not bow." They were thrown into the fire, but God was with them, and they came out without even the smell of smoke. The shield of faith means holding on to God Himself, and His promises put out the fiery arrows of fear and lies.Old TestamentFaith
The Armor of God · Lesson 5The Armor of God: Helmet of SalvationJeremiah 32:1-17, 26-27, 36-44; Ephesians 6:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:8; 1 Peter 1:3-5The Babylonian army was all around Jerusalem, and everyone knew the city would fall. Then God told Jeremiah to buy a field! Jeremiah paid for it, signed the papers and sealed them in a clay jar so they would last a long time. It was God's promise in a jar. "Houses and fields will again be bought in this land." The helmet of salvation is our hope in Jesus. Because He saved us and holds our future, our minds are guarded against hopelessness.Old TestamentHope
The Armor of God · Lesson 6The Armor of God: Sword of the SpiritActs 2:14-41; John 18:10-11; Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 4:12On the night Jesus was arrested, Peter swung a real sword and cut off a man's ear. Jesus told him to put it away. Seven weeks later, filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter stood before thousands with a different sword, God's Word. He told them what the Scriptures said about Jesus, and they were "cut to the heart." About 3,000 people believed! The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. It is living and powerful, and the Spirit uses it to change hearts, starting with ours.New TestamentGod's Word
The Armor of God · Lesson 7The Armor of God: Praying at All Times1 Kings 18:1, 41-46; James 5:16-18; Ephesians 6:18-20; Luke 18:1For three and a half years there was no rain. God promised Elijah, "I will send rain." So Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel, bowed down and prayed. Seven times he sent his servant to look at the sea. Six times there was nothing. The seventh time, a tiny cloud rose, as small as a man's hand. Then the sky went black, and the rain poured down. God's armor is worn with prayer. We pray at all times, and we keep praying, because our Father hears us.Old TestamentPrayer
