The First Sin and God's Promise

Genesis 3:1-24 Old Testament PrincipleHope

Adam and Eve, dressed in simple tunics, walk out of the garden toward a sunrise.

Sin broke God's good world, but God came looking for His people and promised a Rescuer.

Memory verse

“But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8 BSB

Christ Connection · Promise

Right after the first sin, God promised that a child of the woman would crush the serpent's head, though His heel would be struck. Jesus is that promised Rescuer. He was wounded on the cross, and by it He defeated sin, Satan and death.

The Big Story · Fall

This is where the Bible's big story breaks: people turned from God, and sin broke everything. But on the same day, God promised a Rescuer, and the rest of the Bible is the story of God keeping that promise.
