Noah and the Flood

Genesis 6:5-9:17 Old Testament PrincipleFaithfulness

The ark resting on a mountainside under a huge rainbow as Noah's family and the animals step out.

God judged a world full of evil, but He made a way to be saved and kept His promise to Noah.

Memory verse

“Your loving devotion, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds.”

Psalm 36:5 BSB

Christ Connection · Picture

Noah's family was saved through the water in the ark God provided. Peter says this is a picture of how God saves us through Jesus, and that baptism corresponds to it: not washing dirt off the body, but being saved through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Big Story · Fall

Sin had spread until the world was full of violence. God judged it with the flood, but He also rescued Noah's family and promised never to destroy the earth by flood again, keeping the way open for the Rescuer He had promised.

Ask, "How long do you think the ark was? Longer than this room? Longer than a school bus?" Let kids guess. Then say, "It was about as long as one and a half football fields! Let's find out why God told Noah to build something so big."

Bible story 6 min

After Adam and Eve, people kept sinning. Soon the whole world was full of people who hurt each other and forgot God. God was sad. He decided to send a flood to wash the evil away.

But Noah found favor with God. Noah loved God and walked with Him.

God told Noah, "Build an ark. Make it out of wood and cover it with tar so no water gets in. I will keep you and your family safe."
