1 Kings 22:1-40; Ephesians 6:10-14; John 14:6 Old Testament PrincipleHonesty

King Ahab wanted to go to war, and 400 prophets told him what he wanted to hear. Only Micaiah said, "I will speak whatever the LORD tells me," and he told the truth, even though it cost him. Ahab put on a disguise and his armor, but an arrow found the gap. The first piece of God's armor is the belt of truth. God's truth holds everything together and keeps us safe.
The belt of truth is the first piece of God's armor. Jesus is the Truth, so we believe God's Word and speak the truth, even when it's hard.

Christ Connection · Better than
Micaiah stood alone and told the truth, and he was slapped and thrown in prison. Jesus is greater. He doesn't just speak the truth; He is the Truth (John 14:6). At His trial, a guard struck Him for speaking truly, and Jesus answered, "If I spoke rightly, why did you strike Me?" (John 18:22-23). He came "to testify to the truth" (18:37). Putting on the belt of truth means putting on Jesus Himself (Romans 13:14).
John 14:6; John 18:22-23, 37; Ephesians 6:10-14; Romans 13:14
The Big Story · Redemption

Bible story 6 min
King Ahab wanted to go to war. He asked his prophets, "Should I go?" There were about 400 of them. They all yelled, "Go! You'll win!" One even made iron horns. He pushed them around to show how Ahab would win.
But another king was there. He asked, "Is there a prophet of the Lord we can ask?" Ahab grumbled. "There is one. His name is Micaiah. But I hate him. He never says good things about me."
A man told Micaiah, "Everyone else says yes. You say yes too." Micaiah said, "I will say only what the Lord tells me." He told the king the truth. "You will not win this war."
