The Armor of God · Lesson 3
The Armor of God: Shoes of Peace
2 Kings 7:3-16; Ephesians 6:15; Isaiah 52:7; Romans 10:13-15 Old Testament PrincipleSharing Jesus

When the city of Samaria was starving, four men with a sickness that kept them outside the city found the enemy camp empty and full of food. God had made the army run away. At first they kept it to themselves. Then they said, "This is a day of good news, and we are keeping it to ourselves!" and ran to tell the city. The shoes of peace mean we stand on the good news of Jesus and are ready to share it.
The shoes of peace are part of God's armor. Jesus is the best news ever, so we stand on it and are ready to share it with others.

Christ Connection · The gospel
Isaiah wrote, "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace… who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'" (Isaiah 52:7). Jesus is that good news. "He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near" (Ephesians 2:17). Through His death and resurrection, we have peace with God (Romans 5:1). Like the four men, we didn't win this rescue. We found it. Good news this big is meant to be shared.
Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:14-17; Romans 5:1; Mark 16:15
The Big Story · Redemption
God rescued His people in impossible ways, and He chose unlikely messengers to carry the news, pointing to the greatest good news of all in Jesus.

Bible story 6 min
An enemy army was all around the city of Samaria. No food could get in. Everyone inside was hungry.
Outside the city gate sat four men. They had a sickness, so they could not go inside. They said, "If we stay here, we will starve. Let's go to the enemy camp. Maybe they will give us food."
At dusk, the men walked to the camp. It was empty! God had made the enemy hear a sound like a huge army. They got scared and ran away. They left their tents, food and gold behind.
