Christ Connection · Promise

Hannah's song ends by praising God, who will "exalt the horn of His anointed" (1 Samuel 2:10). It is the first time the Bible calls a king God's anointed one, the Messiah, before Israel even had a king. Centuries later, Mary sang a song much like Hannah's as she waited for Jesus, the Anointed King.

The Big Story · Redemption

God answered a weeping woman's prayer with a son, Samuel, who would anoint Israel's first kings. Her song looked ahead to God's Anointed King, Jesus.

Bible story 6 min

Each year, Hannah and her family went to God's house to pray. Hannah was sad. She wanted a baby so much. But she did not have one.

A woman in her home had lots of kids. She was mean to Hannah and made her cry. Hannah was so sad she would not eat.

One day Hannah went to God's house. She cried and told God all of it. She said, "God, if You give me a son, I will give him back to You."
